North Wales: A Natural Paradise
North Wales is a region of diverse landscapes, encompassing Snowdonia National Park, beautiful coastline, and idyllic countryside. This diversity of habitats provides an ideal environment for a wide range of wildlife species.
Puffins of Anglesey – Anglesey is home to one of the UK’s largest puffin colonies, visit the RSPB South Stack or take a boat trip around Puffin Island to catch a glimpse of these distinctive seabirds.
Seal Spotting at Angel Bay – Angel Bay is a nature reserve on the Little Orme, near Llandudno. This small cove is a breeding ground for a colony of grey seals, it’s easily accessible and there is plenty of room to observe them from the cliffs above. The Angel Bay seal breeding season is usually October-November, where you’ll see cute little pups playing in the water and resting on the shore.
Welsh Mountain Goats – In the rugged terrain of Snowdonia National Park, keep an eye out for the iconic Welsh mountain goats. These hardy creatures have adapted to the challenging mountainous landscapes and can often be spotted grazing on steep slopes and rocky outcrops. A hike through Snowdonia might reward you with sightings of these agile animals.
Carneddau Wild Ponies – The Carneddau ponies roam freely in the Carneddau mountains, which is part of Snowdonia National Park. Their hardy nature allows them to thrive in the challenging terrain of the Welsh mountains. These ponies have adapted to the harsh conditions and are known for their resilience.
Mid Wales: A Hidden Wildlife Sanctuary
Mid Wales, often overshadowed by its more famous neighbours, is a hidden wildlife sanctuary that deserves its own place on the map for nature enthusiasts.
Beautiful Birds at Llyn Vyrnwy – Lake Vyrnwy is a reservoir built in the 1880s to supply Liverpool with fresh water, now there is an RSPB centre there where you can learn all about the birds that visit the lake. You should be able to hear pied flycatchers and redstarts, see dippers nesting by the rocky streams. Look up and maybe you’ll spot a peregrine hunting.
Playful Otters at Valley View – Sit beside our fishing lake in the evening and if you are quiet enough you might catch a glimpse of a pair of otters who call Valley View Holiday Park home. They are very good at keeping a low profile, but have been spotted many times by our guests!
Yorkshire Dales: Where Nature Thrives

Red Squirrels in Aysgarth Woods: Aysgarth Woods in the Yorkshire Dales is a delightful place to spot red squirrels. These charming creatures scurry among the trees, making for enchanting encounters.
Malham Cove Peregrine Falcons: Malham Cove is not just a geological marvel but also a prime location for birdwatchers. Peregrine falcons nest on the cliffs, providing thrilling aerial displays during the breeding season.
Deer near Gallaber Park – The Yorkshire Dales is home to 3 types of deer, who often roam wild near to Gallaber Park. They start their annual rut in November, where the males often fight and they call for the females. Skipton Castle Woods is home to a large herd of deer and has beautiful woodland walks to enjoy.
Winsford Flashes: Wetland Wonders
Lakeside Holiday Park sits on the waters edge of Winsford Flashes, in Cheshire. the flash was once a gravel pit that flooded many years ago, it now offers a unique wetland habitat that attracts a diverse range of wildlife:
