With Autumn in full flow we got out for a few walks recently and happened upon many of Snowdonia’s enchanting lakes. Here’s a few of our favourites!
- Llyn Padarn
Travel along the A55 towards Bangor and turn off for Llanberis – this is where you’ll find Padarn and it’s famous lone tree!
- Llyn Idwal
Take a right turn at Capel Curig and you’ll come to Llyn Ogwen on your right before you get to Idwal. The mountains that loom over the lake are particularly spectacular!
- Llyn Elsi
Llyn Elsi is above Betws-y-Coed, the walk to Elsi is rather magical – trek through the forest for about a mile and you’ll eventually come to the lake. The walk begins behind St Mary’s Church.
- Llyn Crafnant
Take a drive above the small village of Trefriw to come to Crafnant. This is an excellent place to walk the dog and there’s also a small cafe here that sells sandwiches and cakes!
- Llyn Geirionydd
Head over the bridge from Llanrwst and turn left into the Gwydir Forest for Geirionydd. It’s about a 2km walk around the entire lake with amazing scenery from every angle!
