Meet the Team:
Katie, Sales Manager at Gallaber Park, North Yorkshire
We have so many different characters across our 9 Holiday Parks across Wales, Cheshire & Yorkshire, all of which have a wealth of knowledge and experience, not only about the Parks they work within, but also about the local areas which surround them.
Our park in North Yorkshire is one of out most outstanding. Nestled between the villages of Long Preston and Hellifield, Gallaber Park sits on the edge of the Yorkshire Dales National Park. A countryside haven surrounded by nature – a truly idyllic place to own a holiday home.
We thought we would introduce our Sales Manager Katie Flanagan to you. Yorkshire lady born and bred, Katie has a wealth of knowledge – from countryside walks to cosy pubs, she is a true champion for the area and all it has to offer. We asked her for more to find out what makes her tick..
Name: Katie Flanagan
Park: Gallaber Park, North Yorkshire
How long have you worked for Thornley Leisure Parks? I’m the newest member of the Gallaber Park team, joining in July 2022. I’m local and I have known the Thornley Family since 2017 when they answered with huge generosity my fundraising pleas care of Hellifield and Long Preston Community First Responders. You certainly get the measure of a company when you ask them for money and support!
What do you enjoy most about your role? It’s a very varied role is very , I’m out and about on park and I love meeting prospective owners and chatting with our lovely community here, they’re a great bunch, a really friendly community!
Where is you’re favourite spot on park and why? Can I have two please? The wildflower meadow has wonderful 360 views of Hellifield Haw, Long Preston Moor, Pendle Hill and over towards Kendal. The Stag is our gorgeous purpose built bar and it’s a showstopper that never fails to impress, comfy chairs and a warm welcome from our bar managers Nigel and Sharon is guaranteed!
Which is your perfect lodge or caravan and why? I really can’t choose between the lodges, they are all fabulously planned with everything you can think of, range ovens, washer driers, wine coolers and full-size baths! My favourite static currently is the Carnaby Langham featuring a cocktail bar and electric flame effect wood burning stove, the bedrooms have superking beds (one zip-locks into twin beds) and are situated either end of the lounge for maximum privacy. The four sets of doors ensure a bright lounge and take you straight out of the bedrooms onto decking, it’s a beauty!

If I could recommend one must see/do activity for the local area it would be: The circular walk around Malham Cove is just a ten-minute drive from Gallaber Park. The Cove was formed in the ice age and is a huge curving amphitheatre shaped cliff formation of limestone rock. The vertical cliff face is about 260ft high and the top is a limestone pavement that you may recognise as Harry and Hermiones camping spot in Harry Potter and The Deathy Hallows. Home to peregrin falcons and little owls. Stop and paddle in Janets Foss, a small but beautiful waterfall and pool on the route back into Malham Village, smell the wild garlic and you may even pass a money tree. Janet (Jennet)is believed to refer to the fairy queen reputed to inhabit a cave at the rear of the waterfall.
My advice to people looking to own holiday home would be: Have a park tour, research the area and make sure the park suits your needs. If you are keen walkers, are there plenty of walks straight from the doorstep like there are here at Gallaber? Is there a train station or bus, for the return leg when you’ve walked to one of our lovely pubs for dinner?

My best tips for the surrounding area are? Get out exploring and don’t forget your camera! Gallaber Park is home to wildlife galore, hundreds of rabbits, a herd of wild deer, herons, birds of prey, owls, newts and this morning I saw a weasel cross the drive! We can also direct you to places of historical interest using the train station in the village, the magnificent Ribblehead Viaduct is 11 minutes away by train, we have the Hoffmann Kiln is 7 minutes by train to Settle and a short walk to Langcliffe, an eerie lime works shaped like a Bundt tin and undulating underfoot, it’s delights historians and children alike.
Any parting words? So, when are you visiting us?
